What Do You Deserve?

It's a valid question that seems to be absent from most people's personal philosophy (although perhaps I'm looking for it in a place that doesn't exist). This, evidenced by the ubiquitous sense of entitlement I find ravaging the 'day to day', comes to light in the most horrific of manners around the dawn of the New Year. Literally overnight, hedonistic indulgence turns to an almost monastic level discipline -the transient nature of which is only surpassed in magnitude by its impotence.
Next up, excuses and other forms of self-delusion manifest from our psychological safety net. After all, personal responsibility is far too demanding when we can blame everyone, and everything, else. Just relax and back into the warm embrace of obliviousness.
But this doesn't have to be you. You can be different. You can be one of the strong who overcome the lame excuses and self-deception.
1) Start by joining a like-minded community. The support you'll find here is invaluable, not to mention the occasional, and often much-needed, kick in the ass.
2) Don't listen to those who fail. Their "advice" may seem innocuous, but listen to Ackbar (see image above).
3) Understand that you're making a lifestyle change. This isn't short term improvement, after which you should settle back into mediocrity.
4) As always, Raise The Barr!
