Welcome to my blog. It's a thrill to have this opportunity to reach out
to you in an informal manner. Actually, everything I get to do at
M&F as senior science editor is a thrill! Hopefully you guys have enjoyed reading my work over the
years as much as I have enjoyed creating it. Based on the letters and
emails I receive every day it appears that I am hitting the mark.
Please continue to reach out to me and let me know whether you've
enjoyed a particular article or if there's something you wish I would
address.

After being bombarded with emails from M&F fans suggesting that I start tweeting, I finally signed up for a Twitter account today. That means I have yet another way to keep you guys updated with even more training and nutrition tips. I'll also be able to tell you when I've posted new M&F Raw! videos and new blog entries. You can find me at http://twitter.com/JimStoppani.
Speaking of posting new M&F Raw! videos, my apologies to those of you waiting for the new M&F Raw! video - Working All the Angles, to be up on the website. In the meantime, read the article, Working All the Angles in the September issue of M&F Magazine on newsstands now. The video is done and should be up any day now.
Today was chest day for me. You HAVE to try this chest triset to finish off your chest the next time you train chest. Start with low-pulley cable crossovers (with the pulley set in the bottom-most position) for 10-15 reps to target the upper chest. After reaching failure, immediately set the pulley to the mid-point (a height about even with your lower chest) and using the same weight, perform as many reps as possible. This will target the middle pec fibers. Then after reaching failure again, immediately set the pulley to the very top position and perform as many reps on standard cable crossovers as you can. This will hit the lower pec fibers. Do this for 3-5 trisets and every muscle fiber in your pecs (upper, middle, lower, inner and outer) will be on fire. That's exactly how I finished off my chest today at Gold's Gym and I'm still feeling it.
Justin - you can wait till after cardio to have your protein shake, especially if you consume carbs with your protein. You don't want the carbs to inhibit fat burning during your cardio. If you go with just the protein shake, you can sip on the protein shake during your cardio and finish the majority of it when your cardio session is over.
Ethan - Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear that the one-arm chest press worked well for you...and it means a lot to know that M&F Raw! never lets you down.

your on twitter now, awesome! ha. its a good resource. I am "following" you, as creepy as that sounds. I appreciate the chest tri tip. I have done that before, but not it about a year. Will you be doing any sort of leg episodes of RAW! ?
Hey, my name is Jacob and i'm eighteen years old. Ever since I was a little kid I had a weight problem. Just recently did I finally get my weight under control(for the most part). Because of a thyroid condition that I have my weight can sometimes fluctuate. I am 5'10 and 181 lbs. About a month ago I really started hitting the weights hard and trying to find a good nutrition plan, along with some max protien. But my problem is is that I know certain things about lifting, but not really indepth. And my belly fat just WON'T GO AWAY! I was wondering if you could help me out at this point. My muscle is definately starting to show and when I flex my abbs they show. (but only when I flex them). Any chance you could help me out with a nutrition plan and a workout plan to get me lean and cut?

Hey Jim,
Haven't posted or sent a message in some time (sorry for that), but good to hear that you are enjoying your much needed Vit. D! I'll be out in Vegas in October, and it will be my first trip. Need less to say I am very excitied for this trip; any recomendations of what to do and see while I am out there (besides the obvious)?
Also wanted to ask you a question about Traps and the exercises that work really well. I've been doing well with my Delts and making sure to target the front, middle, and rear, getting that cannonball shape. Yet when it comes to traps, just haven't seen the growth I would like. I'll do shrugs, both dumbbell and barbell adding an isometric hold at the top, but just not getting the size I'd like. I've even tried seated pulley rows to the neck; the list just goes on!! Any ideas???
As usual UConn and CT send there best! If your around this fall let me know, I have some extra UConn Football tickets!
All the best,
Kurtis
Hey Jim
My name is Ariel. I have been reading Muscle and Fitness for some time now and recently came upon M&F Raw online. Since then the video tips have been an immense help, so a ton of thanks for that.
My question is in regards to nutrition. I happen to be a vegetarian, I eat fish maybe once a month at most and i don't consume dairy products either . I do however use whey protein, bcaa, and other non vegetarian supplements( that I'm aware of) due to my exercise regiment. Ive followed many work out plans from the mag. but not the nutritional portions.
This area happens to be the part i find to be lacking the most. what is the possibility of having a posting in regards to how to best reach exercise goals and building muscle with a vegetarian diet?
I really appreciate your time and once again all the postings and videos are awesome!
What supplements do you take and what benefits do they have.
Pre Work-Out?
Post?
Protein?
Fat Burner?
EPA'S?
Creatine?
I have taken more supps than I care to mention and I feel I am wasting my money!!! I work-out at 5am and finish by 6:30 which 20 minutes od HIIT is included in that time.
Any help with a work-out program would be great....5 days a week.
Thanks
