I have a teenager that is getting into power lifting. I am tryting to find a supplement or combination that he can take without conflicting with his natural body growth. I understand that creatine is being shunned by the colleges because it promotes cramping in athletes. Right now the only combination that I can find is a multi-vitamin and whey supplement. Any suggestions?
James,
Little research supports the claims that Creatine is the cause for cramping in athletes. The cramping issue has been associated more with dehydration and when these athletes were asked if they had been taking anything .....because of its popularity at the time Creatine was "in the right place at the wrong time". If your looking for a good combination use pure creatine monohydrate. Extensive research has been conducted on Monohydrate indicating that there are significant benefits to using creatine with a structured workout plan. Depeing on his age, you mihg twant to consider justa well balanced diet that yes only consists of Whey Protien, a mulit and proper training and nutrition. If he is young you need to allow his body to produce strength naturally, yet again, dont be caught in the myth that creatine is a "bad" product to consider utilizing with his program.
